Festia, Tampere University of Technology

The existing surroundings and the general plan of the campus area complied earlier by architect Toivo Korhonen were taken as the starting point of the design; its central idea was a systematic network structure based on repetition. As the new building was to be linked to the central square both visually and functionally, the main spaces were arranged in the square corner and terraced on the slope. The solution created a stair motif which dominates the corner and leads to the auditoriums. The mass is divided to five independent functional units, linked by steel-structured glass corridors.
